Happy Halloween from The Hinton Clan

What a special day today was for our sweet little family.  Halloween will always be a special day for Chad and I.  Halloween 2010 was the day we found out that we were going to become a family of 3.  I woke up early that morning to take the pregnancy test because I was a week late. It was so early that I had to wipe my eyes to make sure I had read it right. Chad and I were "not trying not to get pregnant" so I rushed into the bedroom turned on the light and shoved the test in Chad's face.  He does not like to be woken up so abruptly, but once he realized what I was waking him up for, he was excited.  We got the video camera and regular camera out and started the documentation of our future little one.  Here we are with the pregnancy tests.  You know I had to do another one to be sure! ;)

After we calmed ourselves down, we got ready for church.  To celebrate our news, we went to Ruby Tuesday's, which turned out to be one of my early cravings (before I even knew I was pregnant).  I ate the turkey burgers with asparagus and the salad bar and Chad got his usual, White Bean Chicken Chili (with toast) and the salad bar.  We had planned to make a big production of the news for our parents, but we were so thrilled, we drove to Hartsville, that afternoon, to tell my parents.  My Mom's reaction "You're teasing!".  Chad sarcastically replied, "No KayKay, we just drove all the way to Hartsville to tease about Page being pregnant."  We then shared the news with Bub and Julie.  Our Hinton family joke was that we were going to call the baby "Tater" (pre-pregnancy).  We wrapped up a potato and Chad handed it to Bub.  After looking at it for a minute, Bub says "Gee thanks son.  A potato, what I've always wanted."  Chad replied, "You have always wanted one Dad".  Julie caught on and screamed, "BUB, it's a tater!".  Bub then jumps up and does a little dance.  If you knew Bub, you would know how crazy that was. ;)

Now here we are a whole year later and we have the most precious, sweetest baby in the entire world.  Okay, so I am a little biased, but what parent isn't.  Every time I look at her I realize what a miracle she is.  Her long eyelashes (thank goodness!), her 10 fingers and 10 toes, her chubby little legs (like Mommy's), her head full of hair, her sweet smile, and all the joy she brings to our life.  Everyone told us having a baby would change our life.  It really has and we love every minute of it.  Even the cries in the middle of the night because the teething fairy has come to visit.  We know the next year is going to fly, just like this one did, so we are savoring every moment.

Here is our little miracle for her first Halloween!

Doctor's orders-Give Solids a Try!

So we went to the Dr. yesterday for Reagan's 4 month well check.  She now weighs 15 lbs 15 oz and is 25 inches long.  The doctor described Reagan as a "robust and healthy" baby.  He told us she had really nice skin color, eye shape, and that she was growing well.

We talked to him about adding solids.  Reagan has been eating cereal at her last feeding the past few weeks.  He told us to give solids a try.  He also told us all the myths are not true.  He has been a doctor since before Chad and I were born, so he has been around a while.  He said we didn't have to try one solid for a week before introducing another.  May sound crazy, but he said if there is an allergy, we will notice right away and will know exactly what she is allergic to.  Last night, we gave Reagan carrots at dinner time.  She absolutely loved them! Here is a picture of her enjoying them.  Notice it's all over her face. :)

This morning at breakfast, we gave her bananas.  She also liked those, but I think she wasn't as hungry this morning.  This is a new experience for her and we are loving seeing her try new things!

4 months have flown by!

Well as you can see I haven't blogged since Reagan's last monthly update. That's because I have been enjoying motherhood so much. Every day our sweet girl amazes us. Here is her 4 month picture we took this morning.

Reagan's nighttime sleep starts around 9pm and she sleeps until 6am. She starts sqirming around, so we turn on her lamp and watch her wake up on her own over the monitor. When she starts cooing, we go in and say "good morning". Reagan then smiles really big and starts kicking with excitement. Mornings are my favorite time with her!

With all the sleep she's getting, Reagan has been really busy during the day! Here is what she has been up to:

-her baby talk is louder and is more pronounced

-she is more aware that we are talking to her and she reacts to our conversations

-she likes looking at stuff that is orange

-she rubs her feet together while she is drinking her bottle

-likes to put get hands together now that she is more aware of her hands

-can stand supported

-she drools a WHOLE lot

-likes to pull hair, necklaces, and earrings

-gnaws on both of her hands (teething?)

-can roll over from her back to tummy about 135 degrees

-as we feed her cereal, she likes to grab the spoon!

-Reagan is wearing size 3-6 months and size 6 months in Carter's.  She wears size 2 in diapers.

What an amazing month it's been! Reagan already loves watching Sprout TV and football! We may be in trouble.... ;)

Here are some pictures of our sweet girl over the past month:
