4 months have flown by!

Well as you can see I haven't blogged since Reagan's last monthly update. That's because I have been enjoying motherhood so much. Every day our sweet girl amazes us. Here is her 4 month picture we took this morning.

Reagan's nighttime sleep starts around 9pm and she sleeps until 6am. She starts sqirming around, so we turn on her lamp and watch her wake up on her own over the monitor. When she starts cooing, we go in and say "good morning". Reagan then smiles really big and starts kicking with excitement. Mornings are my favorite time with her!

With all the sleep she's getting, Reagan has been really busy during the day! Here is what she has been up to:

-her baby talk is louder and is more pronounced

-she is more aware that we are talking to her and she reacts to our conversations

-she likes looking at stuff that is orange

-she rubs her feet together while she is drinking her bottle

-likes to put get hands together now that she is more aware of her hands

-can stand supported

-she drools a WHOLE lot

-likes to pull hair, necklaces, and earrings

-gnaws on both of her hands (teething?)

-can roll over from her back to tummy about 135 degrees

-as we feed her cereal, she likes to grab the spoon!

-Reagan is wearing size 3-6 months and size 6 months in Carter's.  She wears size 2 in diapers.

What an amazing month it's been! Reagan already loves watching Sprout TV and football! We may be in trouble.... ;)

3 months of happiness

We have a 3 month old baby girl! We love her so much and both laugh with pure joy as we watch her grow before our eyes. She changes so much every day and we love watching her grow!

Here are a few pictures and facts to show what she is up to!

-She is starting to chew/suck on her fingers, our clothes, shoulder, you get the picture!

-She and Hector are starting to form a bond.  Hector likes to lay on the floor of the nursery and keep a "watch" over her.  Reagan has started looking at him when he is close by.

-She gets really excited and starts swinging her arms up in the air.  When we put her on the play gym, she goes crazy with the sounds and bright colors.

-She talks up a storm! I would love to know what is going on her mind.  She is so serious about what she is saying!

-She is wearing size 1 diapers still, but will be switching to size 2 once we finish up the box.  She is wearing a lot of size 3-6 month clothes. 

-She had her first "cold" so we took her to the Dr.  While we were there, we found out she now weighs 13 lbs 13 oz.  Hard to believe she was only 5 lbs 10 oz at birth!

-She loves to hold her rattle and shake it.  She just likes to hit her head a little too much!

-She stares at the tv for a long time.  We are going to look into the Baby Einsten DVDs because we think she will love the colors, songs, and movement.

-She likes to sit in her bumbo while Mommy cooks, washes dishes, etc.

This has been such a fun month and we know the upcoming months are going to be even  better!

Time needs to slow down!

Wow! Reagan is already 10 1/2 weeks old.  She had her 2 month check up last week.  We found out she weighs 11 lbs 10 oz and is 22 1/2 inches long.  She has doubled her birth weight and grown 2 1/2 inches.  She also did really well with her 2 month vaccines (there were 2 shots and 1 oral vaccine).  They gave her the oral vaccine first which was basically like sugar water.  When they gave her the first shot, I turned my back.  Chad said after the first shot, Reagan looked shocked.  Then once they gave her the second one, she was very mad.  She screamed for about 2 seconds and then I picked her up and she stopped crying. The nurse told us that most babies are still crying when the family walks out of the doctor's office.  Not our sweet girl; she fell asleep in my arms. Here she is later that night hugging her "lovey".  And yes, it's an owl, of course! (Thanks to my big sis, Erin!)

Reagan has changed so much in just 2 weeks.  Here is what she has been up to...

-She holds her head up very easily.

-She is still wearing size 1 diapers and her 3 month clothes fit her very well.

-She loves to hold her "lovey". 

-She is very strong and tries to stand up, with our help.

-She is really curious, so she likes to be held facing out so she can look around.

-She LOVES bath time now. Who knew a bubble bath in the sink could be so fun?!

-She sleeps between 6-8 hours straight at night.

-She smiles all the time, and smiles on que when you say "Reagan is so pretty".  We think her first word might be "purdy". Here she is after we told her she was pretty.

-She fights sleep during the day.  With her being so curious, she is worried she will miss out on the fun.

-She loves shopping already.  Uh oh, Chad ! She is her Mother's daughter! Here she is on her 1st trip to Concord Mills.

We love you so much, baby girl and we look forward to the upcoming "firsts" we will experience together!

2 months!

Is it really true? Our baby girl is already 2 months old?! She was two months on Monday, which was the first day of school so the past few days have been really busy. We go for her 2 month Dr's visit tomorrow.  I'm excited to find out how much she weighs, but I'm also dreading her 2 month shots.  She has no idea what's coming!  Hopefully she didn't inherit my dread of needles/shots.  We will see how it goes...

Here is how Reagan is developing and a picture of her at 2 months. I also posted her 1 month picture again to show how much she has grown.

-She smiles in response to our smile, and sometimes spontaneously.
-She is starting to coo and says "Ah-goo".
-While on her stomach she lifts her head 45 degrees and sometimes 90 degrees.
- She grasps a rattle or other toys.
- She rolled over from her tummy to back

I also started back to work a week ago.  It's been good for Reagan and I.  Sure, I miss her like crazy, but when I get home, I love on her like crazy and don't want to put her down.  It has really made me appreciate all the little moments with her.  When I feed her at night and in the mornings before work, I listen to her little "ahhs" as she is drinking her bottle and laugh at the grunts as she is passing gas.  I know she won't be this size long and I treasure every second. :)

Changing Daily

It's almost been 3 weeks since my last post.  I understand now why Mommys sometimes don't blog often.  Not only do you have to keep up with your regular stuff (laundry, clean house, etc.), you also have to add in there feeding, changing, naptimes (for baby!).  And of course, you want to spend time with your baby, whether they are asleep or awake.  I started blogging for two reasons.  One, so that I can keep family and friends updated that may not see Reagan often. Two, and the most important reason, I would like to share it with Reagan when she gets older.  Therefore, I need to do a better job of keeping the blog updated.

Well here are some things our "little beauty" is doing at 7 weeks...

-She has no trouble with disposing of her bodily fluids.  She pee-pees so much between feedings that her diaper weighs about 3 lbs. Her daily poops are so strong that her Daddy wants to wear a mask over his nose.  Not to mention how many wipes it takes to clean her off.
-She loves to dance.  She loves music.  Any time of day if Reagan gets fussy, we crank up the music and start dancing with her.  I have a sweet video of Chad and Reagan dancing that I hope to post on here. 
-She loves to sleep on her stomach (which is a "no-no").  But then again, Chad did it, I did it, all the kids in the 80's slept on their stomach.  When she is in her crib, we lay her on her back.  If she is on the couch or bed and we are near her, we lay her on her stomach to sleep.  It also helps her to pass gas easily.  :) And lots of it, I might add!
-Even though babies don't start sitting up until around 3 months, Reagan would do it if her head/neck were strong enough.  She loves to look around.
-Nighttime routine is progressing to sleeping through the night.  She is now up to about a 5 hour stretch between feedings.
-She has moved up to size 3 months in her clothes and size 1 in diapers.  Newborn stuff is packed up and in the attic.  So proud of her, but I did shed a few tears when we packed it all up.

Reagan is 1 Month Old!

So hard to believe our sweet baby is already 1 month old.  She is growing so much every day.  Not only does she practice holding her head up during "tummy time", but everytime we hold her she likes to "bob" her head around. When she plays on her play gym, she likes to lift her legs and show she is really strong.  She might be little, but she makes up for it in her strength.  Hector even enjoys watching her on the play gym.  He likes to sniff her a lot when she is moving around.  This is progress for Hector because for a while he wouldn't even come near her.  He didn't understand what we had brought home with us.  Everytime she cried he would leave the room.  Now he comes around her a lot more, which makes us think he is getting used to her and will hopefully understand her more as she gets bigger.  At least he isn't trying to bite her I guess! ;) Well here is one of her 1 month pictures we took this morning in her 1 month onesie.  It's actually a sticker that goes on any baby clothing.  I ordered them from Etsy after seeing a lot of babies posing in them for each month.  Loved the idea and love sharing it with future Mommies.

4 weeks already?!

Exactly four weeks ago today, I cooked dinner for Chad, my Dad, and I.  We ate dinner, had a little dessert, watched tv, then went to bed.  Not too long after going to bed, our whole world changed.  Now here we are with a sweet, precious 4 week old that has changed our life so much. 

Everyone told me that time would pass by quickly, but wow it has flown by.  She will be a month old on Friday.  In just four weeks, Reagan has started to change so much.  There are so many little qualities we are noticing she gets from Chad and I.  Sometimes when we look at her, she looks like Chad and sometimes when we look at her she looks like me.  For example, here are two pictures, one taken on Monday and one today.

Last week, we made a very big step.  It was a hard one to make (for Mommy and Daddy), but we knew it would be best for our sweet girl.  She is no longer sleeping in her bassinet in our bedroom.  Reagan now sleeps in her crib in the nursery.  She takes her naps in there and she also sleeps in there at night.  My Aunt Joan bought a video monitor for us and that has been a life saver.  I think it made this transition so much easier for us.  When we hear her crying or making sounds we can look to see what she is doing.  If we got up everytime she made a grunt or sound, we would be up every 10 minutes.  We have a very loud sleeper.  While she sleeps she grunts (passing gas), stretches, and snores (yes, already).

Another transition we made last week was putting Reagan on a schedule.  The first 3 weeks were more about us getting to know her, when she likes to eat, how long she eats, how she sleeps, etc.  Once we figured all of that out, we were able to make a schedule of feeding, playtime, and naptime.  Now, of course, the schedule doesn't ALWAYS work.  And I'm sure as the weeks go on we will need to adjust the feeding schedule as she will begin eating more, but less often.  We have her one month appointment on the 18th so we are looking forward to finding out about her progress with weight and how we might need to adjust her schedule.

Combining moving to the crib for naps and bedtime with making a schedule for her has been harder on me than it has her.  Before, we would have the bassinet in the living room so as I would walk around the house, I would go and look at her in the bassinet or I would hold her a lot more (instead of putting her down for naps in the bassinet).  I keep telling Chad that I miss her since she seems so far away now in the nursery.  I do have to admit, I sneak in a few cuddle times during the day because I know she's not always going to be this small and cuddly.  And once school starts back, I'm not going to have as many opportunities to do this.  Chad keeps reminding me that as she gets older, she will be awake longer and I will get to play with her more.

Chad and I both read "Baby Wise" (which I highly recommend) and we really like how the book suggested teaching your baby to self-sooth.  The schedule (feeding, waketime, naptime) is a big part of Baby Wise.  By not putting her down after feeding her, she teaches herself how to self-soothe.  Right now she is very drowsy when we put her down because we keep her so busy during waketimes.  We are hoping eventually when she is more awake when we put her down that she will be so comfortable with her crib that she will be able to fall asleep on her own.  We shall see...
